New Tunes in my Record Box – Live Set (Tuesday 24th October 2017)

It’s been a while since the last post I’m aware of that, Old Habits Die Hard!

So I’ve been really busy over the last few weeks and have been really struggling to do the things I love doing. I’ve hardly been streaming, and I haven’t had a chance to get on the decks in a while. But last week was ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) and A State of Trance did a 14 hour radio show to celebrate Episode 836 and that got me back in the mood to get some new trance tunes, bin off my Formula 1 recordings and get behind the decks once more and have some fun with the new tunes. What I pulled off was, in my opinion (I’m not biased honestly), one of my best mixes I’ve ever done while Djing (although there are a couple mistakes in there, namely the one where I stopped the wrong deck, so I had to edit the mistake out – Whoops!). The set is inspired by some of the latest Trance tunes, the tunes that were played at ADE and those which I’ve had my eye on over the last month or so. Having the controller has really brought my skills along dramatically, so I’m really glad that I took the plunge and bought one (thanks for the nudge Sadique).

Anyway without further a do, here is the link to the set, which you can download from Dropbox as well as a full track listing for the 85 minute set. ENJOY!

Trying Different Tunes – Live Set (Saturday 2nd September 2017)

2 posts in a single day . . . . what’s going on here?

So after my “Walking Dead” live-stream on Saturday night, I decided to head over to my other streaming channel on Twitch and do an improvised mix.  It was a bit of a mixed bag, some mixes sounded good, others were terrible (not to mention the point of the mix where I killed the wrong track).  At the end I did attempt a “David Guetta Mega Mix”, which I don’t think was too bad.

Anyway, I haven’t got a video version of the mix online anywhere, but I have uploaded the MP3 for anyone who would like to give it a listen.  As before, if any comments or feedback about the tunes or mixing style are appreciated. I am thinking about putting together a Year 2000 mix, of all the songs that were big, back in the say when I started going out clubbing (and yes, for anyone who is doing the maths, it was before I was 18 :P), so keep posted for that coming real soon.

The Return of DjNj – Live Set (Saturday 19th August 2017)

Time to get those hands in the air party people 😛

So, clearly creating the new blog and having so much enthusiasm about posting and keeping things up to date fell by the way side. It’s been a while, but I can only apologize for that. However I’m back and this time I have something rather special.

For a while now I’ve been toying with the idea of getting back into Djing and have even played around on twitch and in my discord every now and again. I have an Online Buddy (Sadiquecat) who is also a Dj and he has been bugging me and badgering me to get a Dj controller for a while now. So I finally took the plunge and purchased a Numark Mixtrac 3.  By no means is it anything amazing and cutting edge, but for me it’s just the job.

So with this new bit of kit it was time to arm myself with some new tracks and blindly go into a live set over on my Twitch channel and to be honest I think it went really well.  The set was mainly based around Trance Tunes, but it was just a case of throwing the tracks in there and seeing how I could put them all together.  If you want to watch the full set live, the video is down below, however if any of you want to pull it down to your machines for offline listening, I’ve also provided the MP3 as a download below.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for future sets, please leave your ideas below in the comments. I would really like to hear your thoughts and feedback to help me improve my style.

Back to Life, Back to Reality

So I’m determined not to let the blog fall by the wayside already, so hopefully this post isn’t too random . . . .

As much as being on holiday is a good thing, as my wife always says you need to come home so you can go on the next one. Holiday is one of those times where you let loose and eat and drink like it’s going out of fashion. Which is great, but when you’re “naturally fat” like me, it just means extra work when you get home.

The truth is I really over indulged on holiday and ended up putting like a stone (14lbs on), totalling a whopping 16st 0.75lbs – something I’ve not weighed for ages. So I always knew that monday morning was going to be a time to get back on the diet, which me and Mrs Nock are always on, but there’s nothing worse than the thought of giving up all that yummy tasty food, while at the same time returning to a massive back log of work.

Getting back into normal routine wasn’t as hard as I thought actually, apart from the fact the gas lift on my chair was broken so I’ve had to sit almost on the floor all week, but I guess being so busy with work has meant that I’ve not had time to really think about snacking and eating. I’ve not even had the urge to head out to the garage and get a cheeky beer from the drinks fridge. I feel like I’ve come back from holiday refreshed and ready to buckle down with things. I’ve got back to streaming, which is missed, I’ve started new games and I’ve even pre-recorded a load of portal videos and completely cleared my queue (talk about organised).

So comes the dreaded day where you get on the scales and hope and pray that the week of sacrafice was worth it. And actually, I’m really happy. I lost 6 3/4 lbs which is fantastic. I’m fully aware that your first week back on a diet is always prone for a big weight loss but I needed that. I’ve been trying so hard to keep out of the 15st bracket so to quickly get out of the 16st is a god send.

I’m in the right mindset at the moment to get back into shape. 4 years ago I was training for a half marathon, and was the fittest I’ve ever been and weighed a lean 13st 11lb, so it would be nice to get back down to that area. I’m determined to get back out and start running again so watch this space and if you see me, make sure you nudge me and tell me to go for that run 🙂

Everyone’s been so supportive to me this week in streams and discord so thanks for the support. It’s great to know my community is supportive and misses me while I’m away. You guys are awesome 😉

Duskers Sandbox – v1.0.1 Release Notes

Only 24 hours since the initial release we’re already patching the program.  Many thanks to LB for testing it, bring up an issue and providing his save file for me to test properly.  Below are the change details:

  • Fixed an issue where Reserve Propultion Fuel was capped at 6, meaning if the player had more than 6, the program would throw an exception
  • Removed the No Module Selected option from the module drop downs on Player Ship
  • Added a self fix mechanic to resolve an issue in the save file where one or more ship modules had the same slot number

Please visit the Duskers Sandbox page for the link to the latest version

Duskers Sandbox v1.0 Released

The Wait is Finally Over . . . .

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve just uploaded the first release of Duskers Sandbox for download. Please visit the Duskers Sandbox page where you’ll find the link to DropBox. THe program is still in BETA, so please report any suggestions, bugs and issues by adding a comment on this post.  In time, I’ll create a full Bug List / Change log section so you’re able to see where I am with certain issues.

The Solder Ship Module

A mystery module which has promise, but what does it do?

So as you may know, I’m currently working on a project of my own creation called “Duskers Sandbox” where the idea is to create an application to allow the user to fully customise the Campaign mode load-out, allowing the player to test and practise different scenarios. For more information about the project, please see the Duskers Sandbox page.

Anyway as part of the project I went through the main save file to find a list of all the available Ship upgrades and I came across one called PermSolder. I threw it onto one of my existing ship modules and fired up the game and two things were uncovered. First of all the realisation that any module with Perm preceding it denotes a permenantly installed module. Not only this, but these modules don’t appear to deteriorate over time. I worked this one out because the module I used to test this had about 9% chance of breaking, but on the ship screen in game, the break % is removed completely.

The second and more interesting discovery with this module is that Solder (or Soder as the game calls it) is a ship module which apparently allows you to break and solder doors on ship. So with this new knowledge it was time to see if I could work out how it operates. I’ll save boring you with the details here as I recorded a YouTube video showing the module in action, so here is a link to the video – [Duskers] The “SOLDER” Ship Slot Module. In short, it allows you to “Solder Shut” a door which may have been broken by a swarm or even by an asteroid collision to prevent radiation, how cool would that be in game! Although it states that you can also break doors, I was  unable to find anything that works currently.

Post recording this video, I’ve had a chat with LB about a couple of things and I’ve got a couple more things to try out with this module so stay tuned for more testing with the module, but if you have any info or knowledge of the module, please feel free to share your comments below. It is currently unknown whether this is a module which is available in game or not, but it would seem bizarre that they put this in and not use it. Having said that, I have discovered at least 2 drone modules which don’t work in game, a SwarmTurret and a Repair (I think it was called) module. When you install these to your ship however, the slot is empty giving the impression they are not working in the current release of the game.

Until Next time, NOCK Out!

Time for something new

Hi Guys and welcome along to the first post on my new look website.

As mentioned on the homepage, the number of times I’ve tried to keep my website up to date and failed is beyond me, however I’m ready to get back on the band wagon and give it another go. If you’re new around here, be sure to check out my other links where I stream upload videos and generally hang out with some amazing people.  Also check out my other pages on the site. I’m currently developing a “Sandbox” for Duskers can you’ll find all the info for that project on the Duskers Sandbox page.

Have fun – NOCK
